The problem
Students need a clear route from account creation to paid course access, while administrators need to manage courses, instructors, orders and enrollment data. A delayed payment webhook must not leave a paid student without access.
What I built
I built a React 19 and TypeScript frontend with React Query and a Flask API backed by SQLite. The platform supports email verification, password reset, Google OAuth, JWT authorization, course administration, Cashfree checkout and transactional email.
The challenge
Keeping payment state and learning access consistent across checkout redirects, signed webhooks, background email and retry scenarios.
Implementation approach
Course entitlements are the source of truth for access. A verified Cashfree webhook records payment and grants the entitlement; an idempotent reconciliation job checks older pending orders and repairs missed or delayed webhook updates.
